When funding for the Enterprise Food for Kids program began running low this summer, one volunteer knew exactly where to turn.

Remembering the Community Foundation of Dickinson County's support from the previous year, she reached out to ask if additional funding might be available. Within days, Executive Director Elizabeth Weese had connected four generous donors whose charitable interests aligned with supporting children and families. Together, they contributed $4,000 through the Community Foundation to help sustain the program for the remainder of the summer.

The Enterprise Food for Kids program is serving approximately 40-50 children throughout the summer. Thanks to generous donations from local churches, businesses, and community members, the program provides three hot, home-cooked meals each week and sends food home for participating children over the weekend, helping ensure children have access to nutritious meals while school is out of session.

"When Carllee reached out, we knew this was a need we wanted to help address," said Elizabeth Weese, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. "Within days, four generous donors came together through the Community Foundation to provide the support needed to keep this program going. It's wonderful to see people who care about our community make such a direct impact on the lives of local children."

The Community Foundation of Dickinson County serves as a bridge between generous people and meaningful causes. Whether through charitable funds or individual gifts, donors have the opportunity to support the causes they care about most while responding to the needs of Dickinson County communities.

The Community Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to the Joe and Anita Miller Fund, the Wendell and Nancy Gugler Charitable Giving Fund, the Walter & Virginia Hoffman Charitable Giving Fund, and Mary Eisenhower for their generous support of the Enterprise Food for Kids program. Their gifts will help ensure children continue receiving nutritious meals throughout the summer.
