Organization Fund Overview
Establishing an Organization Fund at the Community Foundation of Dickinson County is a simple and efficient way for your nonprofit to build long-term financial stability and strengthen donor confidence.
An Organization Fund is right for you if:
- Your organization meets the IRS charitable definition of being a 501(c)(3) non-profit, government, education, or religious entity.
- You want to create a permanent income stream to sustain your mission for years to come.
- You want the option of an endowed fund (permanent, with annual distributions) or a non-endowed fund (more flexible access to principal)
- Your board wants to ensure that your organization’s assets are invested wisely and stewarded for the future.
Why you would choose an organization fund:
- Your fund can be endowed to provide annual distributions forever, or non-endowed for more flexible access to principal and income.
- A permanently endowed fund can receive estate gifts and complex contributions such as stock or real estate.
- We handle administration, compliance, and investment management, giving your board and staff confidence that your organization’s resources are stewarded for the long term.
- Having a fund at the Community Foundation demonstrates to your donors and community that your organization is invested in its future stability.
How it works
- You Establish – Your organization makes the decision to create an Organization Fund at CFDC.
- You Give – Your organization contributes an initial gift to establish the fund.
- We Grow – CFDC invests your dollars, manages all administration and compliance, and stewards the fund for growth.
- We Distribute – Each year, CFDC issues distributions to your organization according to our spending policy (for endowed funds) or at your request (for non-endowed funds).
