Youth In Action
The Dickinson County Youth in Action Grant program is a competitive application for area middle and high school students to support youth-led projects that make a positive difference in schools and communities.



Program Purpose
The Youth in Action Grant Program provides grants of up to $1,000 to support youth-led projects that make a positive difference in schools and communities. The program encourages young people to identify local needs, develop creative solutions, and practice philanthropy through leadership, service, collaboration, and responsible stewardship of resources.
Eligibility
- Be youth aged 12-18 (or enrolled in middle school, high school, or homeschooled).
- Apply as an individual or as part of a youth-led team.
- Have an adult advisor (teacher, school staff member, nonprofit leader, or community mentor).
- Complete the project within the designated grant period.
- Projects cannot be started prior to the grant application being submitted.
- Submit a final report within 2 weeks of project completion along with the submission of a "Final Grant Report Video" describing outcomes, impact, and lessons learned.
* The Board of Directos reserves the right to consider applications that fall outside of these parameters when special circumstances warrant additional review.
Eligible Projects
- Address a community or school need.
- Be designed and led primarily by youth.
- Create, improve, enhance, or expand programs, services, events, or spaces.
- Benefit others rather than providing personal gain.
- Demonstrate responsible use of grant funds.

- School beautification
- Community gardens
- Peer mentoring programs
- Mental health awareness initiatives
- Food or hygiene drives
- Environmental workshops
- Community Events
- Literacy initiatives
Funding
- Maximum award: $1,000
- Partial funding may be awarded.
- Applicants must submit a simple project budget.
Grant Acceptance and Communication:
If awarded a grant, the applicant must accept the grant within 30 days of the award notification by logging into the grant portal and completing the required acceptance process. If the grant is not accepted within 30 days, the grant offer will be withdrawn. All grant-related communication, including award notifications, requirements, and reminders, will be sent to the email address of the "Contact Person" provided on the application. Applicants are responsible for monitoring this email account and responding to grant-related communications in a timely manner.
